If you’ re in midlife or navigating menopause, your body probably doesn’ t bounce back the way it used to.
But you don’ t need a strict diet or rigid plan to feel your best this summer. With a few simple, supportive habits, you can stay energized, feel good in your body, and still enjoy all the deliciousness of the season.
Here are four simple strategies to carry you through the summer months without the guilt, weight gain or regret:
1. Stay Hydrated
The simplest way to support your body is to drink more water.
Proper hydration helps your body function more efficiently because it supports digestion and metabolism, and even helps regulate appetite. Also, in some cases, what feels like hunger is actually your body asking for fluids, so drinking more water can help stave off cravings.
Keep a water bottle nearby and sip consistently throughout the day, rather than trying to“ catch up” all at once. If you want to give it a twist, freshen it up by adding citrus, berries, cucumbers or mint.
It’ s a small, simple habit that makes a noticeable difference in how you feel.
2. Move Your Body & Make it Fun!
HEALTH & WELLNESS
When the temperatures rise, you naturally lose more fluids through sweat, especially when you’ re spending time in the heat or being more active.
If you’ re adding in things like more alcohol or salty foods, dehydration can creep in quickly and cause fatigue, bloating, headaches, cravings, or that uncomfortable“ puffy” feeling.
Summer isn’ t the time to force yourself into rigid workout regimens that feel like a chore. Schedules change. Travel happens. The weather gets hot. And trying to force yourself to stick to a strict routine often leads to doing nothing at all.
