Often, we zoom in on the areas of our bodies we’ re most uncomfortable with. But you’ re not just a collection of body parts. You’ re a beautiful, whole human being. Take a step back and acknowledge your strengths— your intelligence, creativity, kindness, and the love you bring to those around you. You are so much more than your appearance. Start to acknowledge what and who you are outside of your physical appearance
4. Quiet the Inner Critic
We all have that harsh voice in our heads that constantly whispers false beliefs. These thoughts pass through our minds over and over, then they take root and become repetitive mantras. It’ s important to start noticing those thoughts, identifying where they come from, and challenging them. Ask yourself: Are these thoughts based on fact or opinion? Where did they come from? What would you say to someone you love who was having these thoughts about themselves?
5. Create New Mantras
Now, flip the script and create new mantras to help you reconnect with your body in a positive way. It’ s important to make them believable to you. Forced positivity and trying to go from zero to 100 never works.
Try something like these:
•“ I am capable of honoring my body’ s needs and am committed to working towards that.”
•“ I am doing my best to listen to and reconnect with my body.”
•“ My body does not need to look like anyone else’ s to be worthy of love and care.”
•“ I deserve to feel confident in my body.”
