When Achievement Stops Feeling Like Enough
Years ago, I found myself at a crossroads that looked deceptively successful from the outside. I had built businesses, earned a PhD, raised a family, and spent decades achieving and striving.
Yet beneath all the outward accomplishment, I felt profoundly disconnected from myself. I had become so accustomed to caring for others, meeting expectations, and pushing forward that I no longer knew how to hear my own inner voice.
At the same time, I was carrying grief I had not fully acknowledged. Some of it came from life transitions, some from burnout, and some from the quiet realization that I had spent years trying to earn worthiness through achievement. Like many women in the second half of life, I woke up one day and realized I had become fluent in responsibility but estranged from wonder.
Healing did not arrive dramatically. It began softly, the moment I picked up a paintbrush again.
