HEALTH & WELLNESS neglectful voice from the past and minimize, dismiss or bemoan our own feelings and needs. Healing offers you the opportunity to turn this attitude on its head and develop a deep reverence for your experience, feelings and needs. Self-acceptance is an inside job and you can no longer wait for permission to cultivate it.
2) Prioritize Your Nervous System:
How you self-regulate is fundamental to your daily health and happiness. Happiness is found in discrete, simple moments of pleasure rather than in the grand slams that many of us hold out for. Feeling peaceful in silence or becoming absorbed in a task like cooking or gardening holds magic when your breath is steady and your heart beats calmly.
If you were raised in a stressful environment your hard wiring may not naturally calibrate to calm. This is also true if your daily life
demands performance without accounting for your resources. This leaves you feeling powerless in a cultural system that extracts what it can without regard for your wellbeing.
Hence, your fierce alliance with self must be expressed by cultivating conscious moments of calm during which you coax your nervous system to soften and release.
This may challenge your hard wiring and your belief that you are not worthy unless you are producing. Dare to let go and rest. If you don’ t allow this, who will?
3) Take Emotional Trauma Seriously:
“ It wasn’ t so bad. I mean, its not like I was beaten or anything.” If you endured emotional abuse or neglect as a child, you wear an invisible corset that restricts your ability to name and feel your feelings.
