HERE ARE 6 WAYS TO WORK WITH YOUR GOOD GIRL ARCHETYPE— NOT TO SHAME HER, BUT TO EVOLVE HER.
First, recognize her presence.
Start noticing where you default to yes, where you soften your truth, where you disappear. Awareness is the first liberation.
Second, honor her gifts.
She taught you how to care, how to show up, how to tune in. These are not flaws. But they need to be rebalanced with selfrecognition, boundaries, and choice.
Third, invite her into your art.
The Good Girl often lives in the unconscious— until we give her form. One powerful way to work with her is through creative expression. Make a“ Good Girl” doll using scraps of fabric, buttons, or found objects. Collage her with magazine images or draw her as a paper doll version of yourself at age seven or seventeen. Let her speak through your art: What does she need to say? What does she want to wear, to feel, to become? By making her visible, we make room for her transformation.
Fourth, write her a letter.
Journaling is a sacred space for reclamation. These prompts can help you engage with the Good Girl with compassion and clarity:
• What rules did the Good Girl teach me about being safe, loved, or accepted?
• Where in my life am I still seeking gold stars— or fearing disapproval?
• What would I say to the younger me who first put on the Good Girl mask?
• What truth am I ready to speak, even if it feels scary?
Your journal can become a space where the Good Girl softens— and your Sovereign Self emerges.
