Take another deep breath and exhale.
Ask yourself,“ What one good statement can I make about myself right now?” This is where positive affirmations and positive thinking come into play. Think of positive aspects about yourself and positive experiences you’ ve had, not just negative aspects or that one bad experience.
Say that statement out loud. Like a good friend would speak to you, be kind to yourself.
Notice how you feel about yourself. Observe the shift from low self-esteem to a healthier sense of self.
Take another step forward and tell yourself:“ I’ ve got this.” This is the best way to build confidence and combat that constant negative self-talk.
Repeat that good statement. Let these constructive thoughts replace the negative ones.
Notice how that feels in your body. Pay attention to how much power positive selftalk has over your physical sensations.
Name the emotion that is moving you forward and own that by using an“ I am” statement.( Making this new statement: I am happy, I am grateful, I am confident, etc.) These positive thoughts create new neural pathways.
Take another couple of steps forward and see how that feels. If you need additional reinforcement, remind yourself again,“ I’ ve got this,” until you feel it stick. State your good observation again. Name the emotion it evokes again and own it. This should become a daily habit, part of your daily routine, not just an occasional self-criticism check.
Rinse and repeat until this way of thinking becomes a quick and instant habit.
Over a little bit of time and with consistent practices, you’ ll notice transformation. Soon you will notice that you no longer find yourself putting yourself down and going backwards in life. What once seemed like worstcase scenarios will become manageable challenges rather than reasons to view yourself as a total failure.
You’ re in charge! Moving forward. Making positive change happen in your life one step, one new feeling, one new inner comment at a time. Well done!
